Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general correspondent for NBC News two year later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was named chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
